Method

Extracting unpacks every track into private browser storage (OPFS) as the library opens. Opening without it is faster and uses no extra space — playback streams straight from the file — but editing, merging and replacing the original need the extract, which then runs on demand when you press Edit.

Settings

MUSA / MUST / MUSOF Formats MUSA (MUltiple Song Archive) — the canonical library format: a standard POSIX ustar TAR archive. First entry index.jsonl (JSONL). Per-track: {NNN}/a.{ext} audio, {NNN}/t.{ext} thumb, {NNN}/c.{ext} cover, {NNN}/s.srt lyrics/transcript (skip regions as [SKIP] cues), {NNN}/x.txt description, {NNN}/v.vtt WebVTT lyrics, {NNN}/u.url source URL. Extractable with tar. MUST (MUltiple Song TAR) is the same format under its former name — .must files open forever.
MUSOF (MUltiple SOng Files, pronounced "MUS-OF") — the index version: a custom binary container the player still reads but no longer creates; its spec stays maintained in sync with MUSA. v3: bytes 0–4 magic MUSOF; byte 5 version; bytes 8–11 index size (uint32 BE); UTF-8 JSON index (n,tt,ar,al,yr,gn,mt,to,tz,tm,co,cz,cm,ao,az,so,sz,xo,xz,vo,vz,ul); then data [thumbs][covers][audio][srt][txt][vtt]. Skip regions stored as [SKIP] cues in SRT. VTT slot holds WebVTT with word-level timestamps.
